Kimberworth Striders Running Club was established in 1986 to cater initially for the needs of runners in the Kimberworth area of Rotherham but now have a membership base of over a hundred members from all over the Rotherham locale. We are a very friendly club with members of a wide range of ages and abilities.

When Do We Meet?

There is a social club run on a Saturday at 10.00am from the The Colin pub on Old Wortley Road, Kimberworth. This run is split into two groups (a steady and not so steady group) that are both out for around an hour.

The club also meet on a Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6.30pm. These runs usually start from The Colin, but please check the weekly timeteble or contact This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it   to check if these runs are taking place.

Members also regularly organise runs between themselves on different days of the week.

What Training Do We Do?

The club aims to cater for a wide range of abilities. Saturday runs are mainly steady trail runs, but runs taking place in the week can incorporate tempo, hill and speed sessions, depending upon the time of year and upcoming races. Training in the winter evenings tends to be on roads and in the summer months the Striders tend to go off-road (unless there is an up-coming road race which requires some road training).

The Striders regularly organise their own races & have organised over a hundred events in their twenty-one year history, the main races being:

Club Social

The club social night - which has ran uninterrupted since 1996 - currently takes place at The Green Dragon, Kimberworth on the first Tuesday of every month. The social usally starts at 8.00pm...all are welcome!

There is a Newsletter - first issued in 1993 - Striders News - produced several times per month notifying members of races, special events, race reports,club championship details etc.

Club Championship

Kimberworth Striders have organised a 'Club Championship' series of races since 1993, unique in that it is 'graded' to take into account an individuals abilty, 'runners' being divided into a variety of 'Divisions' - So EVERYONE as a chance to win.
