My running journey started in Jan/Feb 2017 at the ripe old age of 53! Up until then I’d had a gym membership on and off from the age of 22, enjoying circuit training and fitness classes more than the weights. It was a friend who I trained with at the gym who suggested running to try and lose more weight so that’s how it all started. I completed my first half marathon later that year.

All was good until Covid hit. I then lost interest in running (we couldn’t at first) and my fitness levels dropped and I found it hard to keep motivated and having an ankle injury for over six months didn’t help matters.

It was only in Sept 2024 that I really started running properly again. I ran with the Walk to Run group in January as well as going back to the Tuesday and Thursday club runs and have met some wonderful friends who have helped me along the way and made me enjoy running again.
