Kieron Cawkwell

MENS TEAM CAPTAIN

The first running memory I have (or at least the first one I can pluck out of my forgetful head) is struggling to run around Herringthorpe Track before I was a teenager… I had no idea how to pace myself (Still don’t really) which resulted in me running everywhere with my hands on my head to try and get rid of the stitch!

Since then and joining the Striders back in August 2021, I had run a little bit of cross country at comprehensive school, which now having actually ran a proper cross country race, I realise that it was just running around Wingfield playing fields… no hills so it doesn’t count!

Even though I do really enjoy the challenge of cross country, the fun and the thought that at any given moment I might be flat on my face I do prefer racing on the road, with 10K being my favoured distance.

I will always try to help spur on and encourage other members where I can and give advice if anyone ever needs it!
